Ragged Wood

I’ve long associated the sound of the Fleet Foxes with times of transit, so it was no surprise I found myself listening to them on my flight this week.  One of my favorite songs of theirs is “Ragged Wood,” which coincidentally has some beautiful transitions of its own.  I love how the song ties together a variety of moods so cohesively.

“Ragged Wood” is on the band’s self-titled album Fleet Foxes, released in 2008.  Listen to it on Spotify here.

For a while now, I’ve had Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” spinning round in my head.  The song is written and sung by Stevie Nicks, and it’s the last track on the legendary album Rumours, released in 1977.

It’s a little bit dark, and it drives forward with an enticing momentum.
